Research

Our group is dedicated to carbon-neutral energy materials and green chemical technologies, guided by the core principles of "molecular design, device breakthroughs, and closed-loop recycling." Our research spans three major pillars: photo-thermo-electro-catalytic conversion, plastic recycling, and high-energy-density storage, covering the entire innovation chain from fundamental research to industrialization. The team holds two certified world records (perovskite quantum dots and tin-based perovskite solar cells), positioning us as one of the internationally leading groups in the field.

Direction One 🏆 Dual World-Record Photovoltaics (Signature Strength)

This represents our group's most distinctive academic hallmark, establishing us as one of the few dual-record-holding teams worldwide:

  • Perovskite Quantum Dot Solar Cells: Through breakthroughs in quantum dot size control, surface passivation, and thin-film quality, we have achieved certified world-record efficiency, representing the highest performance in this subfield.
  • Lead-Free Tin-Based Perovskite Solar Cells: Committed to a lead-free approach and specializing in indoor low-light scenarios (IoTs, sensors, wearable electronics, etc.), we likewise hold a certified world-record efficiency, redefining the possibilities for green energy devices.

Direction Two 🔋 High-Energy-Density Storage: Mn-Rich/High-Voltage Layered Cathodes

Targeting next-generation high-energy-density batteries, we focus on Mn-rich and high-voltage layered oxide cathode materials (high-Ni/high-Mn systems containing Ni, Co, Mn, Al, etc.). Our research addresses the critical challenges of structural degradation and interfacial instability under high-voltage operation, employing strategies such as cation mixing to modulate crystal field and electronic structures, thereby pushing the boundaries of energy density and cycle life. We also possess scale-up manufacturing capabilities, bridging the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and industrial deployment.

Direction Three ⚡ Green Fuels: Greenhouse Gases Hydrogen · Ammonia · Alcohols (Photo-Thermo-Electro-Catalysis)

We focus on the resource utilization of CO₂ and CH₄ greenhouse gases through catalytic conversion pathways, co-converting them with water into high-value green fuels and chemical feedstocks such as green hydrogen (H₂), green ammonia (NH₃), and methanol (CH₃OH). Our team develops semiconductor nanocatalytic materials that harness renewable driving forces including light, heat, and electricity to achieve efficient catalytic conversion under mild conditions, providing core material and technology support for the "electricity-to-fuel" green cycle.

Direction Four ♻️ Plastic Recycling: Next-Generation Low-Temperature Depolymerization Technology

Addressing the challenges of high energy consumption and complex product streams in conventional plastic recycling, we have pioneered a next-generation low-temperature depolymerization technology. Through precisely controlled catalytic cleavage of polymer chemical bonds, we achieve efficient recovery of monomers or high-value chemicals under mild conditions. This approach significantly reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions, offering a new pathway that combines economic viability with environmental sustainability for tackling white pollution.
